A Minor works certificate will be issued when an addition or alteration is made to an existing circuit, such as a new socket or fitting being installed. This is your proof that the job has been done in accordance with the regulations and has been tested as safe.
An EIC shall be issued for the installation of new circuits or consumer unit. This work is notifiable under part P of building regulations; you will also receive a building regulations compliance certificate from your local authority following completion.
An EICR is carried out to asertain the condition and safety of your electrical installation for its continued and safe use. For rented accomodation this is usually a requirement every 5 years or on a change of tendency. In privately owned homes it is recommended that an EICR is carried out every 10 years.
